I had to nurse my swollen knee that I twisted a bit yesterday.
I thought the road would flatten out but it didn’t. And was so narrow in parts!

Cancer thrivers Emma Nicholas, Gordon Chan joined Olivia singing the theme song for the Great Walk to Beijing “Right Here With You” while travelling to their next Great Wall of China destination.
It’s quite an emotional song. I was just trying to remember the words when singing with Olivia and making sure my voice didn’t croak too much, but when I sat down on my own and thought about the lyrics, the words and what they meant, I got a bit emotional about my cousin who is having a tough time of it going through her cancer treatment right now.

Gordon Chan - has been struggling with a cold virus he think he caught on the plane here but he made it through the first day's tough walk which included 6 hours of incredibly steep mountains, with so many steps that seemed endless at the time!
Gordon said, "I got through today fine but will wake up with sore quads tomorrow!. It was very challenging walking on the wall. I liken it to the peaks and troughs I went through with cancer treatment, with the many ups and downs I experienced. What gets you through is knowing that there will be a finishing point eventually.
I really should have prepared for this walk better. There are such steep inclines and you really feel it but it's even worse heading downhill. I just had to look at one step at a time and not the thousands of steps in front of me."
