The Olivia Appeal named main beneficiary of the Melbourne Cup Carnival 2009  The Victoria Racing Club has named the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal as the main beneficiary of the Melbourne Cup Community Fund 2009 Pin and Win program. Olivia will perform the national anthem at the Melbourne Cup Day.
This year, the Victoria Racing Club proudly launched the Melbourne Cup Community Fund, which focuses on supporting Australian charities that aim to create long-term health and social welfare programs. The majority of proceeds of the Melbourne Cup Community Fund 2009 Pin and Win program will help the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.
The centre will set new standards in patient-centred care and provide a way forward in cancer treatment; integrating research and medical treatment with the best of wellness care to help heal the whole person. The centre will build on more than 125 years of cancer care expertise at the Austin Hospital.
In addition to supporting the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre, buying a Pin and Win lapel pin provides a chance to win more than $100,000 in prizes including a Lexus IS 250C Sports Model, valued at $89,500 a Hilton Sydney Deluxe Holiday package for two (2) people valued at $7,500 and a TCL Entertainment Package valued at $4,000 (inc GST).
