Volunteer

Volunteers are a valued part of the team that enhance patients and visitors’ experience.

If you are interested in running a fundraising event as a volunteer or wish to volunteer at other fundraising events and meet new people while helping support the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal, please email your contact details and interest to our Community Fundraising Projects Officer: oliviaappeal@austin.org.au

Although the Cancer and Wellness Centre is under construction with a working timelime due for completion in mid 2012, there are currently volunteer opportunities with Austin Cancer Services and across various areas at all three of the Austin Health sites – Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.

There are a variety of volunteer roles available depending on your skills and interests and the organisation’s requirements at the time. A minimum of four hours a week is all that is required.

Volunteer opportunities are available across all three Austin Health sites in the following areas:
• Fundraising
• Administration
• Aged Care
• Auxiliaries
• Diamond Creek Opportunity Shop
• Emergency Department
• Endoscopy and Surgery Centre
• Friends of Austin Health Gift Shop
• Leisure Services
• Palliative Care
• Patient Libraries
• Rehabilitation Work Group
• Veterans Liaison
• Volunteer Services and more

Recruitment Process for volunteering:

All applicants will be required to complete an application form, attend an interview, provide two references and undergo a Police check and Working with Children check.

Successful applicants will be booked into a half-day Corporate Induction and Training session at Austin Health.

Austin Health includes: the Austin Hospital where the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre will be located, the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital and the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre.

Thomastown Fire Brigade with fireman and cancer survivor Scott Morrison

The Melbourne Fire Brigade's Thomastown branch have been supporting our Centre's fundraising appeal over the last few years. Fireman Scott Morrison (pictured in the hat) has survived cancer twice and hopes to raise as much as possible for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre Appeal.
